AL East
Once Pedro Martinez went down mid-season, the Yankees ran away with the division last year. They might not wait that long this year. They retooled their line-up to be more on-base oriented and added some depth to their bullpen and rotation. They're also spending about $25 million more than any other team in baseball and that amount figures to increase by the trading deadline. The Red Sox retooled a bit too and, health-willing, will make a solid run at 90 wins and the wild card. If things fall right, the Blue Jays could make some noise as well, but their starting pitching will need some added depth. The Devil Rays are maturing and could break the 70-win mark for the first time in their existence. The Orioles are simply headed full-steam in the wrong direction.
Predicted Finish:
New York Yankees
Toronto Blue Jays
Boston Red Sox
Tampa Bay Devil Rays
Baltimore Orioles
